I'm Going to do my best to do a quick and dirty how-to on uploading files / pictures without using pictures (I'll do a full article later).

The First step is to choose the little Globe with the Chain on it for Files, or the yellow box with a mountain in it for pictures from the menu above the editor box.

For either type it is the same from this point on.

Click on the "Browse Server" button (This will launch a new window)

Now at the top there is a link to "Upload" Click the Link and use the form that drops down to add your file. 

Once Uploaded the file should appear in the box in the upper right hand corner. select the file and you should see a preview of it if it is an image, or a text link of that file name. When you hover over it, it should say "Send to FCKEditor" (FCKEditor is the name of the graphical interface that provides the post/reply box) Click on the Image or on the Link and it should paste a url location into the anchor / image box. From there you can click "OK" and it should link your content into your post.
